"Queen Liliuokalani, the last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, was overthrown in 1893, and Hawaii became a Republic. Five years later, Hawaii became a Territory of the United States and on August 21, 1959, Congress approved Statehood for The Islands.
"The Statehood Dala, in Gold, Silver, Bronze, commemorates the 25th, the Silver Anniversary, of Statehood. The obverse is Queen Liliuokalani from the famed 'Ruth Coin Series' minted in 1893. The reverse depicts the State Seal of Hawaii used on the Official 1959 Statehood Medal."
