1974 Medallic Art Company "Inspiration" Multi-Part Frank Eliscu w/ Bonus Medal

    • The ring of flames design allow the medal to be aligned correctly when stacking (no two flames are identical)
  • Issued to celebrate the spirit of Inspiration and the heights that it can drive the human spirit, as embodied by Pegasus
    • Pegasus was the symbol of wisdom from the Middle Ages until the Renaissance, when he became a symbol of poetry and the creator of inspiration
  • Obverse depicts Pegasus being released from the Hand of God; the conception of Inspiration, releasing this force for the use of mankind if only he can harness it
  • Interior shows Man, the artist, harnessing the elusive Pagasus by the use of tools; Man reaches for the moment of inspiration, and Pegasus is caught for a fleeting instant while the artist captures the idea he is seeking
