- Obverse: In the center is a sculptural relief of the National Shield encompassed by the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" (UNITED MEXICAN STATES). Surrounding this, following the edge of the coin frame are reproductions of the different National Shields used throughout Mexico's history, such as the eagle which appears in the center of the first page of the Codex Mendoza. The coin edge is flat.
- Reverse: At the center, the Aztec Calendar or Sun Stone. At the upper part, parallel to the coin frame and following its edge is the legend "CALENDARIO AZTECA" (AZTEC CALENDAR). On the right is the mint mark of Casa de Moneda de Mexico, while on the left is the "$" sign followed by the number "100." On the left hand side, parallel to and following the edge, is the year of minting followed by the legend "1 kg PLATA PURA LEY .999" (1 kg PURE SILVER FINENESS .999). The coin edge is flat.
