In 2003, the Solomon Islands issued a 13 coin silver proof crown set that featured the world's most significant aircraft up to that time. This coin is a $25 silver proof coin minted by the British Royal Mint. The front of the coin is graced by the visage of Queen Elizabeth II, with the reverse featuring the Concorde, the world's first supersonic airliner.
The Royal Mint is the body permitted to manufacture, or mint, the coins of the United Kingdom. The Mint originated over 1,100 years ago, producing coins for England and eventually Great Britain.
